Five key points to check when purchasing a used Kitamura CNC lathe

1. Precision Testing is Key: Don't rely solely on the manufacturer's nameplate or verbal promises. Always insist on on-site or third-party precision testing, including: spindle radial/axial runout, repeatability, turning roundness, and X/Z axis backlash. A professional laser interferometer or ballbar test report is more valuable than any fancy description.

2. Mechanical Condition and Wear: Focus on inspecting the wear of the bed guideways, lead screw, and bearings. Observe the guideways for obvious scratches or wear pits; manually move the slide to feel for any resistance or looseness; listen to the spindle's sound during high and low speed operation to ensure it is smooth and free of noise. These directly affect the remaining lifespan of the equipment and machining accuracy.

3. CNC System and Electrical System: Understand the used Kitamura system (e.g., Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or Kitamura's proprietary system). Check the system version, battery status (to prevent parameter loss), and the operating status of all drives and servo motors. Test run complex machining programs to observe for alarms or sluggish responses. System stability and subsequent support costs must be considered. 4. Maintenance History and Origin: Like a car's maintenance record, a complete set of repair, maintenance, and inspection records is the best "resume" for equipment. Prioritize "factory-direct" equipment from reputable large companies or foreign-invested enterprises, as their maintenance is generally superior to equipment that has changed hands frequently or has an unclear origin.

5. Actual Cutting Verification: The final test cut is essential. This requires actual turning, grooving, and threading using standard materials (such as 45# steel). Observe the surface finish, dimensional consistency, and the machine's vibration and noise under heavy cutting. This is the ultimate test of the machine's overall performance.

By remembering these five points, you can transform from a passive buyer into an active connoisseur, maximizing your chances of a successful purchase.
